Jakhu Hill
Located at an elevation of 8000 ft, Jakhu Hill is the highest peak of Shimla. It is famous for its beautiful temple called Hanuman Temple, which is almost a home of monkeys. Although the monkeys don’t harm anyone as all they need is some food, visitors are advised to be careful. The temple commands a wonderful view of the city. You can hire a taxi or pony to reach the temple.
State Museum

Viceregal Lodge
Popularly known as the Rashtrapati Niwas, Viceregal Lodge is perched on the Observatory hills. It was once the residence of the then British Viceroy, Lord Dufferein. After India gained its independence, Viceregal Lodge served as the summer retreat of the President of India. Today, it is the Institute of Advanced Study.

Famous Places Around Solan :

Parwanoo : This is Himachal Pradesh’s premier Industrial township, located at the base of the Shivalik hills on the Kalka-Shimla highway. Parwanoo has a large number of small and medium scale industries. This is also a gateway to Himachal Pradesh via Kalka touching the boundaries of Haryana.


Mohan Shakti Heritage Park :

Mohan Shakti Heritage Park is a vast heritage park in the district of Solan and is located on NH-22 that connects Shimla & Kalka. This park is still under construction and more attractions are being added to it. Visiting Mohan Shakti Heritage Park is not a bad deal during the trip to Solan.


Mohan Shakti Heritage Park and step right into the past. It is North India’s first ever heritage park. It is around 30 minutes drive . The picturesque park is supplemented with many unique fascinating marble sculptures. You can also enjoy exploring a heritage park, pass through grasslands, indulge in bird watching, catch glimpses of archaeological sites, and gorgeous landscapes of peaks, clouds and sunshine.


The Mohan Shakti Heritage Park is home to beautifully carved statues of gods, sages and holy trees {using brass and different stones}. The park is not just a spot for sightseeing, but it also enables you to steal a self-indulgent moment for yourself as well.

Kasauli : At an altitude of 2,107 metres. Kasauli is a charming and quiet place for relaxation. It is a little town with dainty English Cottages set in gardens spilling with flowers, easy and beautiful paths and old fashioned shops. This town seems frozen in time.

Sadhupul : Sadhupul is an adventurous and fun destination. It is ideal location for picnics and to spend time in weekends with family. As it is a village near Chail, Solan & Shimla where a stream flows under a concrete bridge, it is an ideal place for outings. The access by road to Sadhupul is convenient and easy as it is on the way to Chail the famous hill station. This destination offers unlimited excitement. The benches are set-up in the middle of the river where one can sit while eating food ordered from the nearby vendors or brought from home. People can play in water here, and can also arrange camp fires in the chilly evenings of early winter months. A good destination for arranging family picnics and camping in summer months. The place being on the bank of a shallow stream is picturesque having old world charm.

Sabathu : There is an old Gurkha fort built in the early years of the 19th century.

Barog : It is a bautiful place, just 24 km. from hotel . It was an important stop on the railway line in the early part of the century. The hill train halted for an hour here, while the travelers indulged in a lavish lunch. Today, this little town with refreshing air and fine views, is a little holiday destination in itself. It is well surrounded by Pine forests.

Chail : An ideal resort surrounded by scented Pine and Deodar forests. It was once the summer resort of the Maharaja of Patiala. It is located on a wooded spur and it overlooks the Satluj Valley. Shimla and Kasauli are also visible and at night the scene of twinkling lights of Shimla looks charming and seems like the part of the starlit sky.

Karol Ka Tibba: A 5.6 kilometre day trek leads you through fir groves, sprawling grasslands, dense forests, small ponds, a mysterious cave and panoramic views. The beauty of “Karol ka Tibba” trek is that it fits this immense natural bounty in a short day trek. “Karol ka Tibba” is the highest hill around Solan town in Himachal Pradesh. In this trek we visit Karol temple; a temple dedicated to goddess Kali situated at the top of Karol Ka Tibba. The panoramic view from the temple is beautiful and panoramic. The trekking route also passes through the famous Pandava Gufa or Pandava cave, believed to be the oldest and longest cave in the Himalayas.

Solan

Solan is situated midway between Kalka and Shimla. the fine climate of this place round the year makes it an ideal destination for all seasons. There is famous ‘Mohan Meakin’s Brewery’ in Solan, set up in 1855 A.D. The mountains near Solan offer interesting trekking possibilities and its streams are well stocked with a variety of game fish. Solan district is covered by catchment areas of three important rivers, namely Satluj, Yamuna and Ghagar.
